The short version: Ingrowns.com earns a small commission when you purchase through our links, at no extra cost to you. We only recommend products we have independently tested and genuinely believe in. Our affiliate relationships never influence our rankings, scores, or editorial opinions.
How We Make Money
Ingrowns.com participates in affiliate marketing programmes, including:
- Amazon Associates — we earn 3-4% on qualifying purchases made through Amazon affiliate links on this site
- Sephora Affiliate Programme — via Rakuten Advertising
- Dermstore Affiliate Programme — via CJ Affiliate
- Other brand direct affiliate programmes where relevant
When you click a link marked with "Shop Now" or similar and make a purchase, we may receive a commission. The price you pay is identical whether you use our link or navigate to the retailer directly.
How It Does Not Affect Our Recommendations
Our editorial process is independent of our affiliate relationships. This means:
- Products are ranked by the Ingrowns Score™ — a composite of ingredient effectiveness, real-world performance, value, and user experience — not by commission rate
- We include products that do not have affiliate links when they are genuinely the best option for a specific use case
- We will publish negative findings about products even when they have affiliate programmes
- Brands cannot pay to be included, ranked higher, or reviewed favourably
- Our dermatology advisors are compensated for expertise, not for recommending specific products
The Commission Reality
Amazon Associates pays 3-4% on most beauty and personal care products. On a $34 product, this is approximately $1.02-$1.36 per sale. This is sufficient to cover content production costs but is not a figure that would motivate us to recommend an inferior product.
Some direct brand affiliate programmes pay higher rates (8-15%). Where these products are also genuinely effective, we may feature them more prominently — but only when the product merit justifies it.
FTC Compliance
This disclosure complies with the United States Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials in advertising (16 CFR Part 255). We disclose our affiliate relationships on every page that contains affiliate links via the notice: "This page contains affiliate links. We may earn a commission on purchases at no extra cost to you."
Product Testing Policy
Products featured on Ingrowns.com are independently purchased or obtained for testing. We do not accept free products in exchange for positive coverage. Where a product has been provided by a brand for evaluation, this is disclosed in the relevant review.
